Everything New :)

Many good and excited things have happened recently! Also, not so exciting things. I had a sping break last week, but I wasn't allowed to go out with any of my friends for the first half of the week (busy helping mom with stuff), and then it rained. Ughh.. BUT! In the middle of the week, i needed to go to work, and mom said...

"Do you just want to drive yourself?"

I was so excited! I took a picture before i left, to capture my first moment of driving alone. haha. I know that it was because she was exausted, otherwise it would never have happened. A few weeks before, Grandmom let me drive her van next door to our apartments (to Win-dixie) and I think that is what finally cracked open the door of possibilities. Anyways, i tried to act very calm about the entire thing. I was afraid that if mom saw me acting too excited, she would think i was too immature to drive myself, and change her mind. But she didn't! And i've been driving myself everywhere ever since (everywhere being school and work). But, i really am enjoying the freedom of leaving the house as soon as i'm ready, and having the independence to get myself to and from places. I'm going to be so sad when we give Grandmom and Papatrick their van back, next week.. :( But they definitely need it. And, I almost have $2,000 dollars saved up, so i might be able to get myself a half way decent car!! Really, anything that will get me to and fro is perfect. I just want a car!! And I'm sure mom appreciates not having to drive me around.

Another good thing that happened- I got a job at Smoothie King!! I'm so happy! That is my favorite place, and now i'm working there!! Most of my co-workers are very distant, and don't seem to like me yet. It's weird. While i was applying, I really liked all of the workers except one girl. When i kept coming up to the store to check on how my interview went, this girl was always there. She never seemed very freindly, and seemed annoyed with me for coming. But, once i (finally) got the job (I was very persistant), all the co-workers roles kind of switched around. The people who at first seemed to like me, now seem to be annoyed with me, and the girl i thought i wasn't going to like, is actually very friendly and talkative. I like her a lot, so far. But, i'm still really happy i got the job. I've only worked two shifts, and i'll gradually become closer to all the co-workers there. Also, once i learn how to do everything, they won't feel so annoyed by me. I understand that a new girl tends to slow things down, and can be annoying. But, I'll get there!

Also, i got a really good grade on my history test! I'm particularly excited about this, because i wasn't doing very well in the class. But, two days in a row, i stayed after class for atleast an hour and studied with my teacher (poor Mr.Schular...). He really is an amazing teacher. Because i was studying with him after class, he now tends to pick on me a lot. haha. If i'd meet him in the hall, he'd throw a random greek and roman history question at me. And same thing during class. He would ask the class a question, and then smile mischievously and say, "Lauren?" It's definitely unique having my friends dad as a teacher, haha. Anyways, i got a got a 92 on the test! He is very harsh while grading the essay questions.. I wonder if it's possible for students to get 100's? I doubt it.

Happy Halloween

I ended up having to work on Halloween, but i was really excited because my manager said I could wear my cat costume to work~ :) I didn't know that we handed candy out at the mall! So, my manager worked in the backed while i manned the front for two 1/2 hours. I got to see all these adorabile hijos and their parents with their costumes! I was a very enthusiastic treat giver :) I felt so bad when we ran out, though!! I ended up cutting up some of the store stickers and handing those out because it killed me seeing all of the depressed faces when i said, "Sorry, we ran out!!" So instead I would say, "We ran out of candy, but we have stickers!"We had a ton of trick-or-treaters the entire night. I felt sorry for one of our few customers who stayed in the store for about an hour. She probably thought I was a broken record. Every minute I was saying, "Sorry we ran out!" My precious orange cat has been dancing on my keyboard this entire time, making writing very fun. -.-' He's gotten really stubborn. The harder I push him away, the harder he charges forward (persistant brat). But I loves him. He's gotten a lot better, though!I no longer have daily scratches on my feet and ankles. Only occassionaly on the hands and wrists from when he's feeling hyper and i'm trying to pet him. I need to take him to the vet, he's sick and he has some kind of eye infection. His eye is leaking grossness, and it'spink and a little swollen. Plus, he just spent the entire night sneezing on my face. It was lovely. I told mom we are taking him to the vet today. We'll see how that pans out.... I wish i had my own car!! Darn her brakes. OH! But, I did finally save up 1500!!!!! Dad took me car shopping this past Thursday! There was some red car that I could get for 1200 ( everything worked except two windows, the air conditioner, and the radio). But, then I found a beautiful dark seafoam green mercades convertable for 2990. It's so pretty.. minus all the dings in it. But, everything else runs nicely. I want it very badly, but it's about 1500 out of my reach. So, i'm going to check out Craigslist pensacola and see what they have.

It's been a while..

Well, starting last weekend I had a test coming up in my college algebra class. Therefore, I stayed home, like a good little nerd, and studied fruitlessly all weekend. I realized that studying only the online work wasn't going to cut it. I'll have to study the bookwork too. I hate math! Thank goodness i'll be majoring in English. I can't wait to get past all the general works. But, on Wednesday, Sam took me to the fair :) It was really fun. He had gone once before when he was sixteen, and hated it. But, he knew I really wanted to go, and so he took me :) And he said he had fun. I enjoyed it. Then this past saturday came around. Dad picked me up and 3 IN THE MORNING and took me fishing :) Which was also fun. I met a little girl who apparently goes fishing with her dad every weekend. I asked her for her name and introduced myself, and then she asked me, "Do you want to be friends?" I said, "Sure!" and that was that. I had an eight year old shadow for the rest of the morning [she was so cute :) !!]
That night, the girls came and kidnapped me. We all dressed up in halloween costumes and went to the fair. Some one selling drinks asked me if i'd like a bowl of milk. I thought it was funny. I even tried the whole, "Guess my birthday" thing. I never went to the booths before, but this time I decided I wanted to. It was only three dollars, and if he guessed wrong I would get a teddy bear! So I tried it, and he wrote down his guess on a peice of paper, and then asked me for my birthday. Thinking that he was probably going to trick me, and write down my month somehow before showing me, my automatic and childish response was, "No..." I didn't really think before I spoke. But, the man understood and showed my friends his answer before asking me again. He was right on the month of July (unfortunately). But he still gave me beads! :)

I've been inspired

Today I was reading through my sisters blog, and was inspired to make my own! I figured this wold be a good way for everyone in the family to know how things are going. (Shannon, i'm so glad you got to go back to work, today! :) Hurray to Abigail being good and sleeping through the entire thing!) Yesterday I went to my very first job and had my first job experience!! The manager I worked with yesterday, Mandy, is very nice. :) I remember when the head manager interveiwed me, she went ahead and warned me that I would only be getting 3-4 hours a week, and I would be making $7 an hour. I was so happy when I found out I actually work six hours a week. Six hours can some how look so good! Though everything in the store is cluttered and cramped, I really like the friendly atmosphere. I hope I'll get used to everything very soon. The dress code is very relaxed, but i'm still going to have to go shopping! No jeans allowed..(which can very well mean, more dresses and skirts :D yay)
